About the Blogger

About pages always seem so stale, don’t they? The blogger rattles off their achievements and qualifications, asks you to sign up for their email list, maybe pushes you to purchase their new ebook… You’ve seen this schtick before, so I won’t make you put up with it again. Here’s what you need to know about me and my site:

In case you’d like to put a face to the name…

Who I am:

  1. First of all, my name is Kierra. I’m an older sister of several tiny humans, born and raised in the Chicago suburbs (not the city!) and currently living somewhere much farther south. In my free time, I feed my Pinterest addiction; I spend most of my time on the site reading poetry and laughing at comics and memes.
  2. I’ve been reading and loving fiction for as long as I can remember—growing up, Shel Silverstein was one of my favorite authors. The strong reading background earned me a perfect score on the English portion of my ACT, so I guess it was good for something, no?
  3. I’ve been writing fiction for almost as long as I can remember, too—I started writing when I was six and I haven’t stopped since. Currently, I’m working on the fourth set of revisions of my novel; it’s at 108k words so far and I predict it’ll end up being even longer than that, which is exciting and terrifying at the same time. Thoughts and prayers are appreciated. Twitter mentions and emails are even more appreciated!

What I do:

  1. Well, uh, I blog—duh. About, like, writing and stuff. Making the words go. Talking about the things. You get the idea.
  2. I’m a university student majoring in speech pathology with a minor in Spanish. All that means for you is that my posts have definitely been revised/edited at least three times each, because being a full-time student often means writing non-class-related things in the wee hours of the morning. I have no regrets.
  3. I talk to people, especially about—you guessed it—writing! I love commiserating with other writers, especially if there are memes involved. My goal is to teach others how to take their lovely, brilliant, wacky ideas and put them to paper in a way that others will enjoy reading. In doing so, I hope to inspire people to achieve their dreams by showing them how attainable they really are.

What you should do:

  1. I mean, I definitely wouldn’t mind if you read some of my posts! Click around, see what interests you; the topics I cover can be applied to nearly any kind of writing (yes, even and especially fanfiction), so don’t feel like you have to be a novelist to fit in around here.
  2. Come and talk to me! I’m on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook, and I have an email to boot. I’d love to hear from you—feedback tells me I’m actually helping people, not just spitting information into the Internet Void. I’d love to know about:
    1. Your favorite genre to read/write
    2. What you’re currently reading
    3. What you’re currently writing
    4. What word processor you prefer and why
    5. What your writing process looks like
    6. Your thoughts on NaNoWriMo and Camp NaNoWriMo
    7. Your beverage preferences—coffee, tea, or cocoa?
    8. Your favorite foods or kind of pet
    9. Whether or not you think water is wet
    10. Anything else you’d like to share!
  3. Do you need a beta reader? Want to work with me in a professional capacity? I’d love to get in touch! Message me via my contact page and we can work something out.

And, as always…

Happy writing!

~Kierra
